Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2020
Forward Montana Foundation, MontPIRG Leadership Fund, Montana Women Vote, and Western Native Voice (“Montana Voices") are committed to honoring and protecting the privacy of Montana voters’ personal voter registration information.
This document outlines our privacy policy and explains what is done with information gathered by the Montana Voter Registration Portal (“MTVR Portal”).
Use of Collected Information
The information Montana Voices collects will be used to register qualified Montana electors to vote. It may also be used to improve the content of our MTVR Portal; assess the effectiveness of voter registration work; disclosed when legally required to do so at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation; to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing the MTVR Portal and applicable laws; or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the MTVR Portal.
Persons who supply Montana Voices with their telephone numbers or e-mail addresses may receive contact from Montana Voices regarding their voter registration, voting, or other civic engagement opportunities.
Montana Voices does not sell, trade, exchange, or reveal individual information to any third parties other than as described above.
Cookies & IP Addresses
Montana Voices logs IP addresses of users for internal purposes only. We use IP addresses for diagnostic purposes when an error or bug is reported; that way we can track the exact steps a user took that produced the error.
Certain features of our services require that each webpage recognize your entire visit and remember which steps you have taken - this is called session tracking. Montana Voices uses cookies, or a functionally equivalent technology, to track sessions. Session tracking and the use of cookies help make your use of the service more efficient and seamless.
Montana Voices does not use cookies or the information obtained through cookies for any purpose unrelated to your activities on the MTVR Portal. Montana Voices does not obtain or store personal information about you (such as your name, address, telephone number, or social security number) through the use of cookies.
Security
Montana Voices respects the importance of secure and modern election procedures. Information shared through the MTVR Portal is only accessible to Montana Voices team members who require it to register qualified Montana electors. The data entered into the MTVR Portal is collected via the tool Formsite. The form uses a secure connection (SSL/HTTPS) to transmit data with all submissions being encrypted using SHA-256 RSA encryption over TLS, the same level of security used by banks and other financial institutions. The AES-256 encryption algorithm is used to encrypt data at rest.
Privacy Policy Updates
We may update our privacy policy. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page. You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this privacy policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
